Local water running high - 7:23 p.m. 11/20/2009
Just wanted to let the folks know that are inquiring about the local report. I haven't been out fishing, but have been checking the area rivers and everything is running pretty high and colored. Not quite blown-out but far from good conditions. One guy mentioned Thanksgiving weekend, I'm hoping to be out on the water that weekend, but it will all depend on how much the rain lets up next week. If the rain does tapper off next week, things should shape up pretty well, and somewhat quickly as long as they don't completely blow-out. If things shape up, I'll be on the Kalama, Coweeman, or the east fork, trying my luck. Good luck.

Well I am taking two days off of a very busy work schedule in the first week of Dec to go fishing. I need info where I should go fishing for Steelhead or Trout in Wa for two days. It can be up north or down here and need to catch a fish since I have been skunked this year.

The Hoh & the East Fork - 9:31 p.m. 11/19/2009
This is in response to the two folks inquiring about these two rivers. The east fork is great for winter steelhead, it usually picks up around thanksgiving and goes strong all the way thru the regular winter season. I mostly fish it around daybreak park & lewisville park. I don't know much about the Hoh, but I have a friend that grew up on the Oly Pen and said that the Hoh has good runs almost every year. I think it's really good during the first part of the year, my dad likes to fish it around presidents day in February. Good luck.

High water in North Fork. - 10:29 a.m. 11/19/2009
The North Fork will be running at 11,400 CFS (Cubic Feet Per Second). That is the most PacifiCorp can run through the turbines at Merwin Dam. Any more and it will be spilling over the dam.

Kalama success, East Fork winters? - 6:51 a.m. 11/19/2009
Got one 12lb coho just above the first hatchery from the bank the other day. Nothing creative, just eggs below a bobber. Does anyone know when I East Fork Lewis winter steelheading starts in earnest? I'm an Oregon transplant and I used to fish the Necanicum for winters, but that's an awfully long drive anymore compared to the East Fork. Liked the look of the upper river b/c it reminded me of the smaller water on the Necanicum and Wilson Rivers in Oregon. General (or specific!) info appreciated.

Winter Steelhead - 8:33 a.m. 11/14/2009

Does anyone ever troll plugs in the Columbia at the mouth of the Lewis or Cowlitz for Winter Steelhead? I've done it at the mouth of the John Day and Deschutes but not down here and was wondering if any has.
