Story and photo by Noel Johnson. Click to enlarge photos.
In 1949 my mother and father, my two younger brothers and younger sister, left a farm in Northern Wisconsin to go out west. My father leased a portion of this building, which at that time was a grocery store. We operated the store and lived in rooms behind the store shelves.
I attended my freshman and part of my sophomore year of high school at Ridgefield High School. My
recollection is that would have been 1949/1950.
I took this picture (left) and talked to a tenant in one of the apartments on Sunday, March 17, 2002. He was amazed and said he never knew it used to be a store.
