2008 - Fourth Annual Woodland Community Father/Daughter Ball

It may have been snowing outside this year during Woodland 's Fourth Annual Father/Daughter Ball, but inside many Fathers and daughters were burning up the dance floor in style! Hearts could not help but be warmed by the sight of 920 filling the primary school gymnasium on Saturday, February 2nd. The theme “The Secret Garden…it’s all about relationships” set the stage for Father figures to invest in their relationships with their special girls.

Girls from 4 to 40, some younger and some older had a great time dancing to the "oldies", "ymca", "electric slide" and "hokie pokie". One guest remarked, "It was the first time in my life I have ever seen my (70-year old) Father dancing to the Hokie Pokie!" A younger attendee commented, "My Dad was mine for the whole evening! I loved dancing fast and I also loved hugging him during the slow dances!"

Refreshments included fruits, veggies, pop and cookies. All of the cookies served were home baked by volunteers with enough left over to send home with guests! Doorprize drawings that were held every half hour was a big hit. The community of Woodland showed a tremendous support with over $900 in doorprize donations.

Many teary-eyed fathers and daughters enjoyed dancing to memorable songs like "Butterfly Kisses" and "Unforgettable". Lasting memories were created among Fathers/ Father figures and their daughters. One little girl commented "I felt like a Princess all night long!" One couple even arrived in a white stretch limo to the Ball. To help preserve memories, professional portraits were offered by Timeless Portraits (timelessportraits@adelphia.net) at a minimal cost.

Grace Community Church would like to extend a big "Thank You" to the Community of Woodland for the tremendous support of Woodlands First Annual Father/Daughter Ball.
