Princesses of all ages came to Woodland's Second Annual Father/Daughter Ball escorted with pride by their handsome Knights. Over 610 attendees (plus 40 volunteer hosts from Grace Church) enjoyed a Royal evening of Dancing, Refreshments, Doorprizes and Fun at Woodlands Second Annual Father/Daughter Ball. The Royal theme for the 2006 Ball was "The Princess and the Knight", a Community Service Event sponsored by Grace Community Church in Woodland. The Ball was an opportunity for Fathers and Father Figures (Grandpas, Uncles, Neighbors) to treat their girls like Princesses.
Many families represented a legacy of three generations, Grandpa, Dad and daughter, and more. One Grandfather danced the "Hokie Pokie" with his daughter while teaching his Granddaughter the moves. A wide variety of music was played from "The Electric Slide", to "YMCA", many "oldies", and the theme song of the Ball, "Butterfly Kisses."
Doorprizes donated by over 31 local businesses added to the excitement of the evening. Decorations were on a Royal scale this year with a giant balloon arch draped with chiffon, large crowns adorning the walls, and icicle lights everywhere. This year the upper mezzanine area was opened up with more seating and tables, and the lunchroom area hosted the photographer to open up more dance floor area. Two Fathers even dressed in costumes as authentic Knights. The photographer had a Royal Knights backdrop for photos complete with a sword.
A wide variety of ages and dress attire was represented at the Ball. It didn't matter if the Father was dressed in Armor or blue jeans, they were "Heroes" and "Handsome Knights" in the eyes of their Princesses at the Ball.
Grace Community Church is looking forward to serving the Community next year with a Third Annual Father/Daughter Ball. Grace would appreciate any comments or suggestions regarding this years or next years Ball. Please send emails to: WoodlandGrace@Integrity.com.
