The Woodland Historical Museum Society is asking for support from all those living in Woodland and up and down the Lewis River and surrounding areas.

Mission - To preserve and present information and items honoring
the history of the Woodland & Lewis River areas.

This is a reminder that our next museum meeeting is Thursday Nov 5 at 7PM at the Grange Hall. We will be voting on whether or not to accept the house offer. Following the business meeting Dan Balch Jr will talk about his ex[perience on Mt St Helens during the eruption. See you there! Laurie

We need a Woodland Museum to preserve historical
pictures and items like those shown above.

The proposed house to be used as the Woodland Museum was open for everyone to see on September 21. 2009. The actual decision weather or not to use this house will be made at a regular museum meeting. Click here for more pictures.

Washington Secretary of State, Sam Reed toured our area March 15, 2007. Sam is a great supporter of libraries. He is also promoting a bill in the legislature to create a Washington State Heritage Center. Sam was well received at the: Woodland Community Library, La Center Library and he visited with members of the Woodland Historical Museum Society. Click here for more pictures.

Clyde and Millie Schurman

Clyde and Millie Schurman lived next to their Machine Shop on Lewis River Road (503) at Woodland, Washington. Over the years Clyde collected thousands of things including cars, steam engines, tractors, tractor seats, farm equipment and on and on. He even bought a steam locomotive and had a short track for it to run on in their back yard. Click here for more info and pictures.

Schurman Steam-Up

Members of the Woodland Historical Museum Society were invited to the Schurman Steam-up on October 7, 2006. This is an event at which several friends and relatives of Clyde Schurmen got together at his place and steamed up the locomotive and other steam engines. It was great fun and we learned a lot. Nancy was even able to run the locomotive. What a thrill. Click here for more pictures.
